Where We Go For Peace

Without someone to hate, oppose, and blame for our world,

I would have to face the dark places within;

and where would I begin?

~~~~~~
I am not going to speak of all the tragedy. We know it well.  Headlines and social streams are full of it, can’t get enough of it it seems.
But I’ve had enough.
I am not interested in how mad everyone feels about everybody else.
I am “seeing” how anger, shame, blame, intolerance, and hate hurts us.
The events of the past few years (months, days) are devastating on so many levels. But, what happens outside of us is a mere shadow of what is breaking us on the inside; the inside of families, communities, societies – and the inside of you and I.
A way in
Many people who label themselves as good, bad, or both – (usually better,) want a way to get into the mess. They talk it up, spit it out, brag about their opinion, and shout loudly about change – not their change of course, but ours. They see how we could be much better.
And in my case, they are right. I could be.
A way out
Other folks keep their head down. They stay in their own lane. Mind their own business. Bury how they feel in the soil of what they do. Stay busy, don’t fuss. “We can’t do anything about it. So focus on what we can do.”
And that is a good point. I can learn from them.
I want a way back to peace
Silence is the language of a creative universe
~~~~~~

I don’t mean the “good old days”

I want a way back to my center. But don’t misunderstand, I am not looking to hide. On the contrary, I am seeking to see. To understand. To find the way to the heart of creation or that which solves problems, finds solutions, and restores broken things – and broken people. As Richard Rohr so aptly states it:

“it’s not what we see but how we see.”

~~~~~~
Here is a little secret
We have (at least) two great paths to choose from to find our place of peace.  We can become infinitesimal and realize the absolute beauty of a dash of the dirt (see the picture at the top of this post) or we can expand to the ends of time and bliss out on enormity. Both take us to the same place. Our place of peace. But how do we use dirt or stars to change our course?
Let’s talk about it for a few weeks
Over the next couple of weeks, let’s talk about these two paradoxical journeys, how they work and where they lead. If you would like to share in this conversation, I welcome it! Write to me will you?  If you can trust me with your thoughts; happy, sad, bitter, disappointed – whatever, it would inform my heart too.
My posts will be on this subject, but not on anything you share – unless you tell me to share it.
I don’t feel directed this week to share art in post. I have nothing to SELL you. My heart and intent are to walk beside you to our deeper place, where possibilities for a rich life of peace and meaning exist.
“No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he (SHE) gave.” Calvin Coolidge - 30th American President Honoring the Nurturer I won't sugarcoat this one bit. [...]
