Description

Skip the crowded shopping aisles this December and make a gift with a true story.

Or give yourself a slow, cozy afternoon of making. Either way, you’ll go home with something you made with your own hands.

In this hands-on polymer clay workshop in Bellingham, you’ll create a marbled holiday candy dish. Choose your own palette from a variety of colors. Then slice, wrinkle, and press clay shards together into a seamless marbled finish, veined with gold leaf.

Your dish is built over a bright white glazed porcelain bowl, so the inside stays clean and glossy, ready for wrapped candies and treats. The outside becomes a one-of-a-kind piece of art, and no two will look alike.

What We’ll Do

Choose your colors.
Hand-select your own palette from a generous variety of colors.

Learn to marble clay.
Slice, wrinkle, and press raw clay shards together into a seamless, gold-veined finish. The method is simple and forgiving, so you don’t need to follow complicated designs.

Build your dish.
Cover your porcelain bowl with your marbled clay. Everything you need is at your place, so you don’t need to bring anything.

Play with the scraps.
Leftover bits of clay can become little balls, beads, or tiny sculpted figures. Make something small and silly to tuck in beside your dish.

Finish at home.
Your pieces go home raw and soft, and they won’t dry out or harden on their own, so there’s no rush. You’ll bake them in your home oven at 275°F for 40 minutes, let them cool slowly inside the oven, then buff lightly with the wax we provide for a soft, matte ceramic finish. A step-by-step care card comes home with you.

No previous clay experience is necessary. We provide all materials, and you’ll receive step-by-step guidance throughout the class.

Make It Together

This is a lovely class to share, and two seats are just $100 when you come together. Bring a daughter, a grandmother, a friend, or a teenager (ages 14 and up) and make gifts for each other, or for people who aren’t in the room.
