The Story Behind the Artwork
Hospitality and the Pineapple House
I have a friend whom I have known and loved for over 30 years. She is a free-spirited, self-determined woman of purpose – and one of the most generous people you could ever hope to know.
When you are with her, you are always well cared for. We have traveled together, spent weeks at her cottage, worked side by side on projects, and sat by the ocean for hours at the Pineapple House.
Never predictable, my lovely friend will wait until I am settled and snug in the lawn chair nestled in the white sandy beach, before jumping out of hers like a rabbit and pulling me into motion with one smooth move.
I have learned so much about what abundance means (how stingy I can be with myself and others – and my dreams), just by watching her live and love life. Pineapples are symbolic of hospitality and she has them all over her home. When you are with her, you are always at home.
