The Story Behind the Artwork
The Kitchen is Family to Me
I have always LOVED the kitchen. It is the cleanest room in my house. I invite friends to pull up chairs and talk to me while I cook, chop, and saute. It’s the room where everyone seems to be on equal ground. Human and Hungry.
I am not sure anything in this life is more important than the time spent in the kitchen. Children playing, drawing, and asking for snacks. Dad doing the BBQ and claiming his one contribution meant he made dinner. WINK People doing dishes together and talking about what’s bugging them. Christmas baking. Soup slowly filling the house with a smell inviting rest and comfort. Cookies baking. Our wonderful animal family members hanging out and hanging out some more. Just in case. I can go on and on. Why? Because a kitchen is a place where love is without pretense but usually flowing freely.
