The Story Behind the Artwork
Keeping Things Clear
Dirty laundry stinks, if not now, then after it huddles together in the hamper long enough – it will smell. It’s got bacteria that grow in the right conditions.
Same with ill feelings towards others – and mostly in my life, it’s been towards myself. Burying those emotions – the judgments we make on ourselves about our decisions, life-path, regrets, failures, and choices allows them to fester in our soul and our physical body. We don’t do a better job with ourselves because of them, we do worse. We don’t let go. Some would say we attract more of the same.
Of course, likewise for our ill will towards others. I am too selfish to have unforgiveness towards other people. I can’t stand the pain and I find that they don’t feel a thing, but it slowly destroys me. I would rather allow other humans to muddle about in their lives, as I am in mine, learning how to be better. It releases me.
I love the smell of laundry hanging out in the sunshine and the breeze for the afternoon. WOW. By blowing freely the fabric is cleansed in the light and the air. Dirty laundry becomes transformed into sheets I can’t wait to climb into and smell as I drift to sleep that night.
