Sister Moon – Your Guide in The Dark

We call her so many things – this third Moon of the year, from Crow Moon to Sugar Moon, Sap Moon to Lenten Moon. Yet, with all these affections and their graces, I am most drawn to the blessed name given to Moon by the ever-loved Saint Francis of Assisi – “Sister Moon.”

Sister Moon – My Guide in the Dark

Sister Moon is family. She arrives both day and night – when I need her most and when I don’t think I need her at all.

Her shining’s glow like silence hung in the sky.

She mentions my name, and I feel safe.

I’ve poured my heart out to her when it was broken,

and she held the fragments with tender care and waited,

knowing the sun would heat my dreams again and when the time was right,

I’d be back to collect the pieces and begin again.

She Offers Wisdom

I offer you a secret.

Sister Moon shines in the darkness – we see her most clearly when we can’t see much else.

Go for a walk in her light when you don’t know which path is yours to take. Allow moon dust to fall gently on your head, hair, shoulders, and feet. Look up to her and gaze with gratitude for her light. Tell you your story – ask her to guide you.

Then gently walk home and close your eyes in gentle trust.

Your path will become clear.
